If you’re single and thinking about attending a singles night for the first time, it’s completely normal to feel a mix of curiosity and nerves. Many people worry about what it will actually be like, who will be there, and whether they’ll feel comfortable walking into the room.

So let’s break it down. Here’s exactly what to expect at a Singles Society singles night in Manchester.

Who our singles events are for

Our singles nights are designed for people who want to meet new people in a relaxed, friendly environment. We run singles events for a wide range of age brackets, from people in their 20s and 30s through to those in their 40s, 50s, 60s and even 70s.

We also host queer and LGBTQ+ singles events, creating inclusive spaces where everyone can show up as themselves.

Whether you’re newly single, have been single for a while, or are simply open to meeting like minded local singles in South Manchester, you’ll be in good company.

A warm welcome when you arrive

Every singles night and singles party is fully hosted. That means you’re not left standing awkwardly wondering what to do next.

You’ll be greeted on arrival, shown where to grab a drink if you’d like one, and gently eased into the space. Many people attend our singles events alone, so you won’t be the odd one out if you do.

How the evening usually flows

While every singles event is slightly different, the structure is designed to help conversation flow naturally.

We usually start with light introductions or a short quiz. This helps break the ice and gives everyone something easy to talk about. From there, conversation cards, games and guided prompts are available throughout the night.

Nothing is forced. You’re always free to opt in or out, move around the room at your own pace, and chat to whoever you feel drawn to.

Meeting people who share your values

One of the things that makes our Manchester singles nights different is the range of themed events we offer.

We host a Singles Night in a Bookshop, which is always popular, a Sport Lovers singles night, events for vegans and vegetarians, a Christian singles night, a singles night for people who don’t want children, and a neurodivergent singles night.

These themes make it easier to meet people who already share something important with you, whether that’s lifestyle, values or interests.

The venues and atmosphere

Our singles events take place in independent venues across South Manchester, including Didsbury, Withington and Chorlton. The atmosphere is social, welcoming and intentionally low pressure.

This isn’t speed dating and it isn’t a loud club night. It’s about creating space for real conversation and genuine connection.

What to bring with you

Bring yourself, an open mind, and whatever level of confidence you’re working with that day. There’s no dress code beyond feeling comfortable and like yourself.

You don’t need a script or a plan. The structure of the singles night takes care of that for you.
