Get to know Poppy, one of our amazing hosts in York:
1) What do you enjoy about hosting events?
I enjoy the social side of the events, speaking with guests who have come and hearing about their experiences and their opinions on the event!
2) Do you have any advice for guests coming?
My advice for guests coming would be to be on time, be polite, and keep an open mind! Nervousness is normal, but everybody is in the same boat.
3) Where do you like to go out locally / is there anywhere you’d recommend?
My recommendations for York would be ‘Victor J’s’ (cosy cocktail bar with shelves of games to play) and ‘Ye Olde Star Inn’ (really lovely pub, and one of the oldest in York!)

1) What do you enjoy about hosting events?
The thing I most enjoy about hosting events is seeing the transition from the start to the end of the night. At the start the group that don’t know each other and can often be quite shy or nervous. You can really see a big difference from the first to last activity!
2) Do you have any advice for guests coming?
If I can give one piece of advice to guests coming to a singles event it would be to just relax and enjoy the night! Don’t put too much pressure on yourself to get involved and just be yourself.
3) Where do you like to go out locally / is there anywhere you’d recommend?
There’s so many places to go out in York it’s difficult to pick a few favourites. For nights out I love Dusk which is right next door to the Drawing Board in York. They serve a range of funky cocktails and it’s two for one most nights! The Old Bank is also a great spot for a night out, it even has karaoke on a Thursday! For dinner I highly recommend Rustique, the service and food are perfect every time, it makes for a great date night. Mama Mia’s, an Italian on Gillygate, is also a great place for a relaxed dinner, it is also on the cheaper side of restaurants.
